Microsoft has just released its first Windows Phone 8 gadgets, including a HTC and a Nokia model. Windows Phone 8, the latest mobile operating system from Microsoft is available for sale in the US, on AT&T and Verizon Wireless.
Windows Phone 8 has made its debut on the nation's two largest wireless network operators, followed by T-Mobile USA, which will promote its own device next week. Sprint is watching and waiting, since it didn't believe in Windows Phone 8 chance.
Anyhow, if you are interested by the idea of purchasing a Windows Phone 8, there are three main devices hitting stores this week: HTC 8X, Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia 920, all of them available for online purchasing on AT&T.
If Nokia 820 and 920 are already popular among middle budget users, let's see HTC's promise. The HTC 8X comes in several lovely colors and storage variants. A medium blue version can be purchased with 8 GB or 16 GB of storage, for $99.99 with a new contract and the 16-GB model for $199.99 with a new contract too.
I remind you that Nokia Lumia 920 is sold in several different colors as well, but 32 GB is the only storage option. AT&T tries to make you purchase for just $99.99 with a new contract. On the other hand, Lumia 820 only comes in classical black version and costs $49.99 with a new contract.
T-Mobile is offering HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 810, a cheaper variant of the 820, starting with November 14. The prices promoted by T-Mobile are the final cost after applying a $50 mail-in rebate, so you shouldn't omit this possibility. HTC 8X, based on 16GB, costs $199.99 with one of T-Mobile's standard post-paid plans, while Lumia 810 costs $149.99 with one of T-Mobile's standard post-paid plans.
Verizon Wireless is still teasing you with its version of the HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 822 (also a cheaper variant of the 820) available for preorder and effectively shipped on November 13. HTC 8X, based on the same 16GB storage, is estimated at $199.99 with a new contract, while Lumia 822 costs $99.99 with a new contract.
If you were to compare HTC to Nokia, I would say that the Finnish gadgets include something extra, like ESPN Hub, Nokia Drive, Nokia Transport and other Nokia-made navigation tools.
